An asphalt spayer is a tank-type special-purpose vehicle equipped with an insulated container, an asphalt pump, a heater and a spraying system, which is used for spraying asphalt. It can also be defined as a kind of road construction machinery for spraying liquid asphalt such as hot asphalt, emulsified asphalt and residual oil. It can be widely applied to the construction of road surfaces such as highways, urban roads, airports, port terminals and reservoirs. Large-capacity asphalt spayers can also be used as asphalt transport vehicles, mainly for surface treatment by asphalt penetration method, prime coat, tack coat, on-site mixing of mixtures, asphalt-stabilized soil and other construction and maintenance projects.

Asphalt tank

It is composed of an inner tank, insulation material, outer shell, partition, combustion chamber, asphalt pipeline inside the tank, heat transfer oil pipeline, air storage cylinder, filling port, capacity gauge, decorative plate, etc. The tank body is an elliptical column, with its inner and outer layers welded from steel plates. Between the two layers, there is a filling of aluminum silicate insulation material with a thickness of 50 to 100mm, and it is covered with stainless steel plates. There is a sink at the bottom, which is convenient for the asphalt inside the tank to be sucked out completely. There are five installation feet at the bottom of the tank, which are welded to the secondary beam as one piece and then fixed to the frame. The outer layer of the combustion chamber is a heat transfer oil heating cavity, and a row of heat transfer oil heating tubes is installed at the bottom. The volumetric gauge is used to indicate the height of the asphalt in the tank.

(2) Power transmission system

It is composed of a power take-off, a pump transmission device, a hydraulic system, etc. Generally, the power output from the power take-off installed on the engine of the chassis or the output port of the transmission drives the hydraulic pump, providing the necessary power for the asphalt spreading device. The hydraulic system is composed of a hydraulic pump, relief valve, directional control valve, hydraulic motor, hydraulic pipeline, etc.

(3) Asphalt pump and pipeline system

It is composed of asphalt pumps, filters, valves, spraying pipelines, cylinder nozzle assemblies, etc. The flow direction of liquid asphalt in the pipeline is controlled by different combinations of valves. The main functions are as follows: self-priming asphalt injection, rear pipe spraying, hand-held nozzle spraying, circulation, back-priming, cleaning, etc.

(4) Asphalt heating and heat transfer oil system

It is composed of a combustion heating system and a heat transfer oil circulation heating system.

(5) Asphalt pipeline cleaning system

It consists of two parts: diesel cleaning and high-pressure air flushing. The diesel cleaning section is composed of a diesel tank, a copper ball valve for oil inlet, and pipelines. The high-pressure air flushing section is made up of an air storage tank, a check valve, an air valve, etc.

(6) Electrical and control systems

The electrical control system is divided into two parts: the DC circuit and the AC circuit. The DC circuit is composed of a power take-off, a reducer, a cooler, a hydraulic directional control valve, a rear nozzle lifting circuit, a rear working light control circuit and an automatic control system circuit. The AC circuit is composed of a generator, a burner and a heat transfer oil motor circuit.
